Lions Manor 55 Plans Announced

The Lions Club let the public in on one of their projects which would be the first over-55 residences in Northern Manitoba.

The over 55 housing would be transitional living option with affordable rents, which would allow residents to live in a comfortable housing complex without the stress of house maintenance.

30 suites are set to be constructed in the complex, 24 of those suites would be two bedroom suites, while the last six would be one bedroom complexes.

The complex would be staged as a co-operative and would have a board of directors. Residents would be a part owner of the complex which would include making decisions for the complex while being on the board of directors.

Residents would be required to buy 60 or 70 shares which would total up to $60,000 or $70,000.

To reserve a spot, a $500 deposit would be the cost.

The housing complex is expected to save residents around 2 thousand dollars a year compared to an average home in Thompson.
