Manitoba Midget "AAA" Final Set

The Manitoba Midget "AAA" hockey league finals begin tonight in Winnipeg.

The defending league champions, the Winnipeg Wild, will face off against the Yellowhead Chiefs.

The two teams finished one-two in regular season standings, with only five points separating the two.

The two clubs met four times during the regular season, each winning twice. The Chiefs took the first two, both in November, 3-2 and 7-5. The Wild won both games played in February, 6-3 and 7-1.

Yellowhead is yet to lose a playoff game this year, coming off sweeps of the Central Plains Capitals and the Brandon Wheat Kings.

The Wild have had a slightly tougher time in the post-season, having gone the distance in the best-of-five series with the Eastman Selects after sweeping the Parkland Rangers.

Winnipeg is lead up front in the playoffs by Spokane Cheifs prospect Cedric Chenier and Brandon Wheat Kings prospect Kyle Bettens, who each have 12 points in eight playoff games played.

The R.M. of Yellowhead side has been lead offensively in the playoffs by Mackenzie Belinski, a 2015 8th round pick of the Regina Pats. Belinksi has 10 points in six games played.
