Goldeyes Fall To Saints

The Winnipeg Goldeyes continue to fall further from the top of the American Association North Division as the St Paul Saints handed the boys from the Manitoba capital a 10-4 loss last night in Minnesota.

8,208 were in attendance at C.H.S. Field as the Saints stormed back from an early 4-0 deficit. Tony Thomas led the St Paul offence, driving in four runs on a homerun and a single. The Riverview, FL native has 26 RBI’s on the season and seven home runs.

Mason Katz was one of the few bright spots for Winnipeg, hitting a solo shot in the second inning. Reggie Abercrombie drove in two runs, and Josh Romanski had the other Goldeyes RBI on the evening. Both Abercrombie and Romanski now sit at 27 RBI’s on the season, which puts the pair in a tie for fifth place in the league.

Texas native Zach Nuding had yet another forgettable start for Winnipeg, allowing seven runs (five earned) on six hits through 6.1 innings pitched. Reliever Brandon Peterson picked up the win for the Saints, his first of the year.

Game two of the series between the divisional rivals goes tonight in St Paul with first pitch scheduled for just after 7:00pm. Edwin Carl (2-0) is scheduled to start for Winnipeg while Jason Creasy (3-2) goes for the Saints.
