Federal ministers are pointing to work on a Red Dress Alert pilot in Manitoba as they mark Sisters in Spirit Day.
In a statement released Sunday, they honoured missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit and gender-diverse people, and acknowledged the families still seeking answers.
The government says it provided 300-thousand dollars to help advance the next steps of Manitoba’s pilot.
Ministers say more work is needed, with survivors, families and Indigenous communities helping guide that response.
