MKO is condemning a Winnipeg Sun opinion column it says attacks residential school survivors’ credibility and distorts the public record.
The northern Manitoba First Nations organization is joining the Southern Chiefs’ Organization in speaking out against the column published October fourth.
MKO Grand Chief Garrison Settee says residential school denialism dishonours children who never came home and undermines survivors’ accounts of what happened.
The organization points to survivor testimony and archival evidence documented through the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
MKO says it will continue supporting survivors and the work to locate and honour children who died.
