Northern Manitoba picked up its first win of the MJHL season last night against the always-competitive Waywayseecappo Wolverines.

Kade Stringer and the Blizzard power-play unit opened the scoring with the lone goal of the first period. Waywayseecappo’s Jonah Lemoine and Ian Buors responded quickly in the second, potting back-to-back goals to give the Wolverines a one-goal advantage.

After the ten-minute mark, Kade Stringer and Sam Laplante found the back of the net to put the Blizz back on top. Ian Buors, however, completed his second goal of the night on the power play to tie things up heading into the third.

The final frame belonged entirely to Northern Manitoba, as Liam Carlone, Hugo Brisebois and Sam Laplante scored three unanswered goals to seal the 6–3 victory.

The Blizz are back in action this Friday and Saturday for their first road trip of the season, with stops in Portage and Winnipeg. Puck drop against the Terriers on Friday is set for 7:30 p.m., while Saturday’s matchup against the Monarchs gets underway at 7:00 p.m.
